NEW QUEER WORKS
We are excited to launch our VIRTUAL
New Queer Works Development Sessions starting March 30th
If you are a queer theatermaker of any discipline, we invite you to join us in exploring and discussing works-in-progress by a
diverse cohort of queer playwrights.
(Theatermakers who are
allies are also
welcome and encouraged
to attend in support of your queer colleagues.)

what to expect
At each session, we will explore selections, curated from over 150 playwright submissions. Each selection will be read aloud by members of the group, followed by a constructive group discussion with a guest dramaturg.
The playwrights chosen for the Development Sessions represent diverse intersections of queer humanity. Our hope is that the room will be filled with this same level of representation. If you have felt marginalized in the theater community due to body type, ability, ethnicity, or gender identification, we especially encourage you to attend.
You are welcome here.
how can I participate?
If you are interested in reading in person or virtually at the Development Sessions - Please submit a headshot, resumé (with your pronouns), and short bio or artistic statement to !
We’ll match you up with a role (or roles) in service to the needs of the playwrights. This is an excellent opportunity to test your cold reading skills and potentially connect to writers who speak to your lived experience.
If you are a theatermaker who is passionate about telling queer stories, this is a marvelous way to
(1) encourage queer playwrights in their work; (2) build community with fellow queer
theatermakers in SoCal; and
(3) engage in queer work that is happening
